Police:  PLEASE RESPOND to Burglar Alarms


Enhanced Call Verification (ECV)

Policy
Prior to contacting the Department, the alarm monitor has attempted to verify the alarm by contacting the alarm user or the alarm user’s representative by making a minimum of two separate  phone calls, to two separate numbers, provide by the alarm user, prior to contacting the Department.  Names and numbers or those contacted or attempted to contact, must be provided when requested.

Policy   (alternative format)
All businesses monitoring burglary alarm systems shall, prior to contacting (Law Enforcement Communications) to request a burglary alarm dispatch, do the following:

a.   Attempt a verification call to the premises;

b.      If no responsible party is located on the initial verification call, attempt a second verification call to a cell phone or other alternate contact number designated by the alarm user.

c.       Be willing to confirm that multiple verifications have been attempted and provide Communications with the names and telephone number information if requested.

d.      If an electronic cancellation is received, no alarm dispatch will be requested.
